We will try to give you an overview and a brief explanation of what is involved in making hats and caps out of tin.To make each cap 8 drinks cans are needed and you need 13 for each hat. Only beer and soft drinks cans are suitable for this purpose; the more rigid soup or vegetable tins can’t be used.The top and bottom of each can has to be removed, then the cans need to be washed. After this they are pasted onto a cardboard template, before being pasted onto leather. The templates can now be cut into the exact shapes.Next, the eyelets are marked out on them, ready to be punched out.Finally the separate pieces are fastened together and the hat or cap is ready.
